2019 Year in Review: Cardi B Rocked History Books All Year Long [Grammys, RIAA, Billboard, Etc.]

Published: Tuesday 31st Dec 2019 by Rashad

Scribbled in history books for some good, bad, ugly, and everything in between, 2019 brought with it some of entertainment’s most memorable moments.

Now, as the year draws to a close, TGJ is reflecting on our favorite moments that rocked – and to some degree maybe even reshaped – the Urban and Pop cultural landscape as we know it.

Next, we’ll look back at how Cardi B broke records all up and through the year:

Months ahead of the release of her debut album, ‘Invasion of Privacy,’ Cardi B (born Belcalis Almanzar) had already penciled her name in history books for becoming the first and only female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 without a feature this century. Going on to top the tally two more times over 2018, she became the only rapstress in history to boast multiple chart-toppers.  As if that wasn’t enough, she made history for becoming the first female artist (of any genre) to see every track of her album certified Gold or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Those hoping her 2019 would spell less entries into record brooks were sorely disappointed as the Grammys, BET Awards, Billboard Awards, and more respectively crowned her with titles previously unconquered.  Look back at a few of the highlights below:
