Nearly 4 years since controversial rapper/singer M.I.A. dropped her “fifth and final” album ‘AIM’ (click here to listen), the 44-year-old – born Mathangi Arulpragasam – is coming out of retirement, much to the surprise of fans.
Taking to Instagram to make the announcement (January 28), Arulpragasam not only let fans know she was hard-at-work on new music after the death of her father last month, but also that they’d be getting a taste of it a lot sooner than they expected.

Although she revealed a due date of Friday (January 31), M.I.A. offered little more detail. As of time reported, the single nor its parent project’s title have been confirmed. However, a snippet was made available via the announcement’s Instagram post (listen above).
