Azealia Banks Readies UK Drill Album?

Azealia Banks‘ affinity with Black British music is palpable.

For, after exploring UKG (Garage) sounds with her earlier releases, the multi-talented rapper has announced that she is a fan of UK Drill Music and stunned fans by releasing snippets from a new release set to explore her love of the genre.

As a result of Britain’s colonisation and enslaving of several African nations, the UK (specifically London) has become a creative melting pot for people who descend from commonwealth countries.

As a result of this, the nation’s Black Music scene was born out of sounds inspired by the diaspora (American Hip-Hop and R&B, Caribbean Dancehall and West African Highlife to name just three) and set against the grey backdrop of the UK’s technologically advanced metropoleis.

For this reason, the hallmark of some of the scene’s most prominent genres may include sounds pulled from ringtones, West African drum patterns and  distorted vocal samples….a  fusion of tech & culture.

This week, Azealia announced plans to get in on the action by creating some Drill of her own.
