The VERZUZ clash between Teddy Riley and Babyface was easily one of the platform’s most anticipated.
Yet, what was billed as a fun-filled battle of bops ended in an embarrassing melee.
Details below…
With over 500,000 watching live on Instagram, it quickly became apparent that there were technical issues on Riley’s side.
Spectators, including countless celebs, begged for intervention of his robust setup, which included multiple microphones – due to nagging lagging and distracting echos.
Yet, in each instance that the action was stopped to restart, the issues would persist.
After a while, Riley’s very visible team of assistants announced a 30 minute hiatus – an hour after the the chaotic live began.
However, Babyface jumped on his IG to announce he would not be returning. Instead, positing the notion of picking it up on a day where there were no issues.
His video statement:
Sigh.
Much respect to Teddy, but his approach was the ultimate instance of “when doing the most delivers the least.”
A whole mess.
