For several days, the rising rapper has been at the center of a viral storm all connected to leaked videos of her seemingly participating in a problematic chatroom.
The “cancelation party” then saw others pile on Doja – digging up tweets she allegedly made about race and her contemporaries and branding her #1 with ‘Say So’ as being flash in the pan after “plummeting.”

I’m caught between feelings of why she needed to address the things she said and why she lightly addressed them when she did. The best apologies are changed behavior and showing us how she’s learned or learning from her actions would’ve have made her look more believable. I think it’s funny how she never addressed the homophobia. I cringed when she talked about who she loved because it now should give her clarity on what gay people have to deal with for wanting to be with people they love. However, with respect to race, many people wouldn’t say she is a racist. It is that she appeared to express cognitive dissonance. Before anything she is a woman and after that (according to the one drop rule) she is a black woman. As a black woman she comes from one of the most unprotected groups in society, meaning she will be picked apart for everything and people from her own group will be reluctant to save her and even throw her deeper into the fire pit especially when she doesn’t appear to associate from her identity.
