X Factor Racism Drama: Tulisa Gives Tone-Deaf “Apology” To Misha B…Only To Stand By “Bully” Claims

Published: Tuesday 16th Jun 2020 by Sam

“Sorry if she feels that situation was racially motivated…”

Those were the words uttered by UK singer Tulisa, who is feeling the heat after former contestant Misha B named her as one of the key protagonists in what she felt was a racially charged shakedown on live TV.

As reported, Misha was branded a “bully” on an episode of The X Factor – with no tangible evidence to support. The comments, which were made by Tulisa and fellow judge Louis Walsh, dealt devastating damage to the hopeful’s chances on the show – as the stereotype is one the media took and ran with.

With the global dialogue about racism gaining volume, Misha shared her story in an impassioned video. During which she unpacked the racially coded attacks she experienced behind the scenes and revealed that she was left feeling suicidal and with PTSD.

Now, after the premeditated nature of the pile-on was confirmed by judge Gary Barlow, Tulisa is speaking up.

In a move many have deemed tone-deaf, the 31-year-old half-steps an apology, only to stand by the “bully” allegations. She then draws on the “I have black friends, family, and culture” trope.

I have witnessed black people being torn down in the industry, especially black women. It is a very real and serious issue. But my issue at that time was a response to actions, and was in no way shape or form about race. I have never and will never take part in any oppressive or racist agenda.

Wack.

Tulisa misses the entirety of the point and, for all her attempts to establish an alignment with blackness, proves she still doesn’t get the issue at hand. Hence, invalidating whatever apology she was attempting to muster.

Racial coding is real. So drawing on and weaponising a dangerous stereotype as some kind of reprimand to a Black woman on live TV is inexcusable. Echoing earlier sentiments, racist acts aren’t just limited use of the N-word. It can be coded, cultural, corporate, and ultimately catastrophic in its effects.

What’s more, as we write, there has yet to be any actual account of this supposed “bullying.”

Allegedly making someone cry is a problematic foundation to rest the “bully” argument on. Because – as we’ve seen with the Amy Cooper’s of the world and countless others – it’s not every tear that is rooted in legitimacy. Nor is it every tear that justifies the preceding act or subsequent reaction.

Put simply, Tulisa can really pocket her fluff.

I’m just going to leave this here. I have received many calls and messages throughout the last couple of months regarding this incident. I have been in two minds of whether to address it, simply because I know that this problem is a lot bigger than me and I wanted to focus solely on the current affairs. Seeing the continuous mistreatment of my brothers and sisters all around the world has reawakened the PTSD that I have worked tirelessly to uproot and I know I do not stand alone on this. In 2011 what I thought at the time would be the best opportunity for me, turned out to be the most painful experience of my life. What you see in this video is 1% of what I endured. They saw an opportunity to tear down a black girl that came from a broken home and worked together to assassinate my character and to sabotage my career by orchestrating lies. ALL FOR A HEAD LINE. Nonetheless today and everyday I am a powerful black woman. I have been aware since I was a child, that my unapologetic nature would offend those that do not feel comfortable in their own skin…. Which results in this kind of behaviour. But In the words of our late great Maya Angelou STILL I RISE 🦋✊🏿 Please join me on Instagram live tonight @ 9pm where I will be discussing my experiences further. I want to make it clear that I share my truth only to educate and uplift. LOVE, m i S h a

Yeshua came to save the Jews so don’t chat nonsense about all human beings. Also I’m pretty sure God said Jacob I loved and esau I have hated. You people really love to pick and choose from the bible a black history book? God does not love all humans equally fact. White people do not even behave like they came from the same God as everyone else.

  5. Ugghh June 16, 2020

TGJ you trying to add your opinion to Tulisa’s post is a joke. You sit up here and knock other people for the part they play in systematic racism, yet you are also part of the problem.

If anything you are the X Factor producers of this website. You literally allow ignorant and racist comments from 3-4 specific people just so you can drive more traffic. So just STFU when it comes to racism topics at this point until you fix your own issue on this website.

    • XYZ June 16, 2020

      This!

    • PinotNoir June 16, 2020

Systemic racism, not systematic. Social media parroting leading your grammar astray.

      • Ugghh June 16, 2020

It’s called a typo. However, I can’t say the same about your incomplete sentences, but I digress.

        😂

  6. Tyty June 16, 2020

Considering you let a rampant racist leave multiple comments on this blog, I’m surprised you have the gall to write this article. A bit hypocritical 🤨

    • PinotNoir June 16, 2020

Comments = repeat visits = revenue.

      • D June 16, 2020
