Nearly three months after Alicia Keys‘ long-awaited self-titled studio album was originally scheduled to drop, the R&B diva is still teasing tunes that will reportedly line its official tracklist.
After watching her last two singles – ‘Good Job’ and ‘Underdog’ – become unofficial anthems for healthcare and frontline workers amid the coronavirus pandemic, her new song, ‘Perfect Way To Die,’ aims to tackle another issue plaguing America: racism.
As we reported here, Keys took to ‘The Daily Show’ earlier this week to announce the new song’s June 19 arrival and dish on how the deaths of Mike Brown (2014) and Sandra Bland (2015) inspired its creation years ago.
With its message still just as poignant given the ongoing struggle for racial equality, listen inside to ‘Perfect’:

The melody is a little Broadway, but I like where her heart is. Thank you Alicia for recognizing this all-important time for us to rise up and make a difference.
🥴 I mean, I see where she was trying to go with this but….no. This is very broadway like the comment above says. I wish Alicia would venture into another area because music isn’t working for her anymore. Even a residency wouldn’t do well for her. And nobody is going to replay a song titled “perfect way to die” while we’re all trying NOT to die from C*******. 🥴

I’m so tired of all the heal the world music.. girl put the save the world stuff on an EP and give us an album full of r&b/soul/hip hop gems. It doesn’t seem like she wants to be on top again because everything she’s released so far (minus Show Me love and Underdog) reminds me of a leftover track from her Here era.
She has become so boring

But her first three albums were quality. I still love “the diary”.

They should bring back likes/dislikes and LESS traffic/pop up adds on this site
She needs to make some organic music just like her makeup free face. Something like jazz, soulful, blues… please go back to her roots
Some of the ingredients that have made Alicia music enjoyable is missing. Honestly she is very saltine nowadays. This new album does not sound too promising from what has been offered thus far.
