New Song: Usher – ‘I Cry’

Published: Thursday 25th Jun 2020 by Rashad

As if earning a #1 hit on the R&B charts with his Ella Mai-assisted ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ wasn’t enough, R&B veteran Usher also recently saw his name printed atop iTunes R&B tallies for his Tyga-assisted song, ‘California’ (click here to listen).

The warm response to his lengthy absence from the music scene has apparently encouraged the 8x GRAMMY winner to unveil even more new music as evidenced by the recently released, ‘I Cry.’

An emotional cut seemingly inspired by the ongoing racial unrest in America, Ush croons on the track:

“I cry / For the sons without fathers / And the pain that their mothers / Hold deep inside / And I’ll fight / For the future we’re making / We can change if we face it / ‘Cause these tears won’t dry / So I cry…”

A portion of Usher’s proceeds from this record will be donated to http://lisc.org in support of the Global Goal: Unite For Our Future campaign.

This is cute. The song Mario and Trey released were a little better. It just feels like another Usher record thats going to go unnoticed.

It makes me sad, because you are absolutely right about this song being unnoticed. It reminds me of the time that he released a full R&B album (“Here I Stand”) that not very many people embraced, but then when he tried new stuff and incorporated dance and electronic elements into his music (“Looking 4 Myself”), everyone kept telling him to release unfiltered and pure R&B.

I will say that between this song, the Ella Mai duet and “S** Beat”, I’m ready for whatever Usher has in store for us, and I’m excited that R&B is having a resurgence.

Why does there always to be comparisons? Each song has completely different styles. I don’t think this song will go unnoticed, especially if you’re comparing it to Mario lol. Nobody has noticed him in years. Mario’s song is decent, but I wouldn’t try to say it’s better than Usher’s. Usher’s song is easily vocally better. Plus, this song will be performed live on YouTube and on NBC this weekend. Can’t go unnoticed like that.

I love me some usher. Yeah man, he needs to work with other talented female rappers like CUPCAKKE or khia. I’m so sick of the same female rappers
