The Weeknd is no stranger to making history, as several headlines launched during his ‘After Hours’ era revealed.
Yet, for those who have forgotten just how dominant the album’s singles have been since their late 2019 launches, the ‘Reminder’ singer is serving just that via yet another record-breaking stat.
Details inside:
While the ‘After Hours’ era has rocketed 4 songs to the Hot 100’s top 20 to date (including two #1 hits ‘Heartless’ and ‘Blinding Lights’), it’s the latter that refuses to dim on charts – namely radio based lists.
On the Pop Radio tally (titled ‘Pop Songs’) this week, ‘Lights’ outshines last week’s champion, Justin Bieber (as we reported here), to recapture the top spot.
As a result, Billboard reports the Max Martin-produced cut enters history books as the first song this century to return to the chart’s summit after spending more than a month away from it.
Look below to see who joins him in the top 10:
This Week’s Pop Songs Chart
“Pop Songs” chart is a Billboard airplay ranking based on the performance of the most popular songs being played on the leading panel of Top 40 radio stations in the United States.
This Week’s Overall Radio Chart
The “Radio Songs” chart (previously named Hot 100 Airplay) measures the airplay of songs being played on radio stations throughout the United States across all musical genres.
Its point of difference from the “Pop Songs” chart is that it is comprised of data from Top 40 stations as well as more genre-specific radio stations such as Urban, Country, Hip-Hop, and more.
