Britney Spears fans, affectionately called the #BritneyArmy, will have to soldier on with the #FreeBritney campaign for a few more months as it’s been revealed the singer’s hearing Tuesday (August 18) resulted in no changes from its previous setup.

Spears – locked in a conservatorship since 2008 – has reportedly been working to remove her father, Jamie, as the controller of her business and personal affairs.
Asking a Los Angeles court to rule in favor of permanently replacing him with her care manager, Jodi Montgomery, the hearing where such would be decided happened Tuesday (August 18) and reportedly ended with officials extending the current conservatorship arrangement until February 2021.
While the GRAMMY winner has not publicly commented on the conservatorship herself, her lawyer – Samuel D. Ingham III – had submitted documents ahead of the private hearing saying she was “strongly opposed” to having her father return to control her affairs after his own bout will illness.
He also went on record stating:
“We are now at a point where the conservatorship must be changed substantially in order to reflect the major changes in her current lifestyle and her stated wishes.”
To add, TMZ reports:
“Currently, Jamie is the sole conservator over her business affairs. Here’s the rub … certain legal docs need to be filed before her issues go before a judge, and that hasn’t happened. Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Wednesday’s court hearing was simply a scheduled status conference and nothing has changed.
Our sources say Britney’s problem in this case is that there has been a declaration she’s not able to make important life decisions because of her mental illness, so her wishes will almost certainly be tempered by the very fact there is a conservatorship.”
Britney Spears’ conservatorship has been extended to Feb. 1, 2021.
