New Video: Pharrell & Jay-Z – ‘Entrepreneur’

Published: Friday 21st Aug 2020 by Sam

Pharrell Williams has re-teamed with Jay-Z for new collaboration, ‘Entrepreneur.’

In a unique move, the song arrives as part of the TIME cover package, ‘The New American Revolution.’

Featuring conversations with Tyler the Creator and Angela Davis among others, each segment sees contributors discuss the systematic inequalities Black people have faced throughout the history of the United States.

‘Entrepreneur’ echoes these sentiments lyrically. Something Williams asserts is purposeful. He says of the track:

“The intention for a song was all about how tough it is to be an entrepreneur in our country to begin with. Especially as someone of color, there’s a lot of systemic disadvantages and purposeful blockages. How can you get a fire started, or even the hope of an ember to start a fire, when you’re starting at disadvantages with regards to health care, education, and representation?”

Songs and messages like this should be continuous and not appear only in the wake of tragedy or when a soundtrack is needed for another s**** movie.
