Taylor Swift has done it again.
The Pop titan has premiered atop of the Billboard 200 with new album ‘Folklore’ and has made chart history in the process.
Full story below…
The LP – which was announced just a few hours before its release – opens at #1 with a gargantuan 846,000 units sold.
Swift’s incredible feat renders her the only artist in history to have seven albums sell half a million copies of a studio album in a week.
Additionally, ‘Folklore’ serves as the singer’s seventh consecutive #1 entry on the Top 200 and 6th consecutive studio album with over 800,000 albums in the first week.
On home soil, the ‘Cardigan’ led album benefitted in earnest from a broad number of retail configurations – including cassettes, vinyls, and a wide variety of alternate collectible covers.
Globally, the project has already become the best selling album of the year after amassing over 2 million in sales worldwide (and half a billion streams).
The cherry on top? ‘Folklore’ becomes the biggest album debut by an artist since… Swift’s own ‘Lover’ LP landed 11 months ago.
Suffice to say, there’s no denying her potency.
Congrats.
