Motown Records is finally making its move to the UK with a new label.
Announced on Monday (September 14) the record label will be led by Rob Pascoe and will have its own dedicated team and sources.

The label will be focused on signing local artists
Afryea Henry-Fontaine will serve as marketing director. Both Henry-Fontaine and Pascoe previously worked for Universal Music Group.
The move overseas was spearheaded by by Motown president Ethiopia Habtemariam and Rebecca Allen, who was recently made president of EMI Records.
According to a statement, the business will become EMI Records’ dedicated home for releases from Motown’s revitalised US operation alongside a new generation of British Black music.
Speaking on the transition, Habtemariam said:
“…[it] could not be more perfect.”
She went on to say that they want to expand the company’s platform for Black entrepreneurship.
Founded by Berry Gordy, Motown Records celebrated its 60th anniversary last year. Since its inauguration, the label has been home to many of music’s most famous artists, including: Stevie Wonder, the Jackson 5, Diana Ross & the Supremes, and Ne-Yo.
