This really serves as one of those scenarios where both “hey, it could have been worse” and “yikes” are both applicable.
Because, no matter how it’s sliced or diced, the commercial drop from the 180k debut of 2017’s ‘Witness’ (which itself was an under-performer) is impossible to ignore.
But, at the same time, a top 5 debut from a seasoned artist whose schtick doesn’t fit in to the current climate as domineeringly as it did in times of past could almost be seen as a small…win. Almost.
