T-Boz Talks TLC’s Legacy, Says “The Whole Industry Turned on Us” After Left Eye’s Passing

TLC is one of the most decorated girl-groups of all time. However, after the tragic passing of band mate Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes in 2001, T-Boz, one third of the trio, claims “the whole industry turned” on the R&B act.

Watch the interview below…

Sitting down with Jason Lee and DJ Damage at Hollywood Unlocked, T-Boz of TLC says that “everybody’ left them on the back burner after Lopes” untimely death, including their then record label LaFace Records.
She says:
“Honestly, when Lisa died, the whole industry turned on us. Everybody. They was like, ‘It’s over for them. They’re never going to do it again.’ And I kept saying, ‘Nah, bruh, that still doesn’t hinder my talent and my passion to sing and dance.’ It’s in my soul,” T-Boz said. “I was just like, you just have to find that one person to say yes and find your new normal. We all know it’s never going to be the same again, but you find your new normal, and you keep going. And that is what Lisa would want us to do, and I have kids to feed, so why would I stop? It’s TLC forever, whether she’s physically here or not.”
The Platinum-singer then goes on to share behind-the-scenes details of the group’s VH1 Superbowl Blitz concert back in 2014, where DrakeNelly and T.I. pulled out of the performance last minute.
The musician shares:
“Drake, he pulled out. We had just did his OVO Fest, he was like, ‘I don’t know, I’m working on my performance’… T.I. Everybody.
But it’s all good because it turned out exactly the way it was supposed to be.”
Despite Nelly pulling out of the show, he and TLC have maintained a working relationship, with the group being a part of Nelly and Flo Rida’s joint headlining tour in 2019.
