SZA is not holding back.
The R&B singer took to Twitter, where she responded to Drake‘s claim that they dated back in 2008.
Her words below:
“So It was actually 2009 lol .. in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered ol I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait . Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm.. it’s all love all peace.
Her tweet is a reference to Drake’s lyric on 21 Savage‘s ‘Mr. Right Now,’ where he raps:
“Yeah, said she wanna f*ck to some SZA, wait / ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08.”
After the song’s release, some people pointed out that if the claims were true, SZA would have been 17 when the pair dated. But as she points out, there was nothing illicit about her romance with Drizzy, saying:
“I just didn’t want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening. Completely innocent. Lifetimes ago.”
After the song’s release, SZA unfollowed Drake on Instagram.
However, it appears as though things have settled down between the two.
