The set, which was announced with just a few hours notice, opens at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 329,000 equivalent units. Of that sum, 154,500 were pure sales.
Beyond becoming the singer’s eighth effort to reach pole position, ‘Evermore’ serves as Swift’s second #1 on the chart in five months and third #1 on the chart in sixteen months. Her previous wins were with ‘Folklore’ (July 2020) and ‘Lover’ (August 2019) respectively.
With global streams blasting past the billion mark, the total sum of sales for ‘Evermore’ has crossed the 1 million mark worldwide.
The LP’s performance is rendered all the more impressive when considering that it’s comprised of digital sales and streams alone. Swift didn’t make physical editions available so as to preserve the surprise element (as new chart rules mean physical editions need to be ready for dispatch at point of purchase).
With said physical configurations now available, it’s safe to assume Ms. Swift will enjoy steady sales. Especially through the holiday season.
Congrats.
