Jagged Edge Star: Lil Nas X’s ‘Wicked’ Video for ‘Call Me By Your Name’ is ‘Witchcraft’

Published: Sunday 28th Mar 2021 by Rashad

Lil Nas X‘s polarizing, yet highly controversial new music video – ‘Call Me By Your Name’ – has been called many different things by commentators since its Friday (March 26) debut.

While fans and even celebrities like rapper Big Sean have christened the venture “creative” and “artistically daring” (as we reported here), others – like GRAMMY nominated Jagged Edge star Brian Casey – are among the critics who are slamming the Tanu Muino-directed clip as “demonic” and “satanic” for its bevy of sacrilegious imagery, which includes a scene of the 21-year-old giving Satan a lap dance.

Taking to Instagram recently to weigh in on the hoopla surrounding the visual, look inside for Casey’s lengthy statement on the matter.

The ‘Tip of My Tongue’ singer had tongues wagging when he took to social media Sunday (March 28) to denounce the LNX video.

“This is what happens when you don’t know who you are nor who your God is, we are not heathens we have no business taking wicked shit that people have made us believe is ok, and trying to take it to another level, it’s like we in a contest to see who can be more wicked, and more rebellious against the Most High. 1 Samuel 15:23-For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king. Bible says plain and clear that the rebellion we are seeking so hard is as the sin of witchcraft, and this is what the scriptures say about witchcraft or being a witch. Exodus 22:18-Thou shalt NOT suffer a WITCH to Live. The Bible is plain and simple about the dangerous games we are playing, but we don’t understand the way we live is not following in the ways of our God, but following in the ways of our oppressors. Psalm 83:3- They have taken crafty counsel against thy hidden ones. 4- They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. 5- For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: So verse 3 says that they our oppressors have taken “crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones” so who are the hidden ones? We are, but why? Because we have been cut off from being a nation, and a people, and had our heritage, and ethnicity stripped away from us, we have a responsibility to not follow in the way of our oppressors, and until we come back to who we are it’s just gon get worst and worst as far as the images and things our kids are subjected and exposed to, I know in Lil Nas X’s mind he sees the 21 million views in two days and swears that’s a good thing but many people say this verse not understanding how real it is. Matthew 16:26-For what is a man profited, If he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Real love for y’all All Praises to the Most High, Shalawam”

Regardless of where one stands on the ‘Montero’ video critically, what can’t be debated is its commercial impact so far.  At writing, the song has amassed over 29 million views (in less than 48 hours), is #1 on iTunes USA, top 10 on Worldwide iTunes, and #2 on Spotify charts (USA).

Those figures should spell well for the tune’s debut on next week’s Billboard Hot 100.  Until then, click here to revisit the controversial clip.
