Ariana Grande find herself in a familiar position: Billboard history books.

Nearly 6 months after debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 with her latest album, ‘Positions,’ Grande’s still found in the tally’s top 10 – landing at #6 on this week’s refreshed chart (as we reported here).
While streams of the effort remain strong, one of the larger components of its ongoing success are pure sales thanks to the commercial performance of physical CDs, cassette tapes, and vinyls.
In relation to the latter, Billboard reports:
‘Positions’ sold 35,000 copies in the U.S. [over the last sales tracking week] – up 1,614% compared to the previous week’s sales (2,000). The majority of the album’s sales in the most recent week were from its vinyl LP, with a little over 32,000 sold via the format (across a couple of colorful variants, including a glow-in-the-dark version exclusive to Target).
Because of those massive vinyl sales figures, Grande now owns the record for the largest sales week for a female vinyl album since the Soundscan era began in 1991.
Ranking #3 overall, only Jack White’s ‘Lazaretto’ (40,000) and Pearl Jam’s ‘Vitalogy’ (nearly 34,000) have sold more.
