The 21-year-old star has scored the second chart-topper of his career with the release on everyone’s tongue.
He first achieved pole position in 2019 with his breakthrough hit ‘Old Town Road’ – which reigned for 20 weeks.
So how did the 21-year-old pull off the win?
Powered in earnest by its highly viral music video, ‘Montero’ amassed US streams of 46.9 million, 21,000 digital downloads, and a multi-format radio audience of 1.1 million.
The song makes history as just the 51st song to debut at #1 on the Hot 100 and serves as Nas’ first to achieve the feat.
‘Montero’ also sees Nas become the second-youngest male to debut at #1. The record-holder remains Justin Bieber, who debuted at #1 in 2015 with his hit ‘What Do You Mean?’
It notably replaces Bieber’s ‘Peaches’ at the top; a song which also premiered at #1 just a week ago.
