Sam Smith‘s latest era, ‘Love Goes’ (which supports their 2020-released third studio album of the same name), may not boast the sales and accolades of its predecessors but that doesn’t mean it’s delivered any shortage of hits.
Unofficially kicked off in 2019 by the Normani-assisted ‘Dancing with a Stranger’ (one of the biggest songs of that year), the project also features the top 40 hits ‘How Do You Sleep?,’ ‘Diamonds,’ and ‘I’m Ready’ featuring Demi Lovato.
Related to the latter, the anthemic cut is just one of multiple from ‘Love Goes’ that got an upgrade from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently.

On April 26, the RIAA updated its logs to reveal a number of Smith titles have seen their certification status advanced.
4x Platinum (indicating sales equivalence of 4 million in the United States)
- ‘Dancing with a Stranger’ – Single
Gold (indicating sales equivalence of 500,000 in the United States)

The upgrades join the slew of previously certified tunes from ‘Love Goes’ that includes ‘How Do You Sleep’ (2x Platinum), ‘To Die For’ (Gold), and ‘Fire on Fire’ (Gold). Together, they push Sam’s cumulative career total to 46 million units in digital sales.
