Hot 100: Olivia Rodrigo Breaks MULTIPLE Billboard Records as ‘good 4 u’ Debuts at #1

Published: Monday 24th May 2021 by Rashad

‘Drivers License’ star Olivia Rodrigo has driven her name right into Billboard history books again thanks to the success of her latest single, ‘good 4 u.’

Details inside:

Just four months after debuting at #1 with her debut single, ‘Drivers License’ (which now holds the record for the longest-running debut #1 single in history), Rodrigo’s found herself in a similar spot with her latest release ‘good 4 u.’

Premiering atop the refreshed Hot 100 this week, the song comes as the 53rd of the 1,124 No. 1 hits in the Hot 100’s 62-year archives to arrive at its summit.

Here are the numbers that drove it to the top:

  • Streams: 43.2 million U.S. streams
  • Digital Downloads: 12,000 downloads
  • Radio Airplay: 3.8 million radio airplay audience impressions

At 18-years-young, Olivia is now the youngest artist in history to own two #1 debuts on the Hot 100.  What’s more, Billboard reports:

“Sour [the parent album of “good 4 u”] makes history as the first debut album to include two songs that have entered the Hot 100 at No. 1, thanks to “Drivers License” and now “Good 4 U.” The only previous albums to house two tracks that each premiered on top were by then-well-established stars: Mariah Carey’s Daydream (“Fantasy” and “One Sweet Day,” with Boyz II Men, in 1995-96); Drake’s Scorpion (“God’s Plan” and “Nice for What,” 2018); and Grande’s Thank U, Next (“Thank U, Next” and “7 Rings,” 2018-19). Those were, in each case, those artists’ fifth proper LPs.”

As if that’s not enough to celebrate, ‘Sour’ – already the first album in history to own two #1 debuts BEFORE it hits shelves – is set to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 next week with some of the year’s biggest sales to date (as we reported here).  If and when it does, Rodrigo will become the first artist to debut at #1 on both the main singles and albums charts with her inaugural project.

Until we find out for sure, look below to see who joins her in this week’s top 10.
