Britney Spears Breaks Silence On Conservatorship: “I’m So Angry…I Cry Every Day”

Britney Spears has shattered her silence about the conservatorship that has controlled much of her life for the last 13 years at a highly anticipated court hearing today.

And she did not hold back.

In a shocking developing story, the 39-year-old singer detailed her angst at the legal agreement – overseen by her father Jamie Spears – that has governed her personal and professional life since 2008.

Speaking to the judge virtually, she began:

“It’s my wish and my dream for this to end.”

Refusing the suggestion that aspects of the hearing ought to be redacted for privacy, she continued:

“They’ve done a good job at exploiting my life. So I feel like it should be an open court hearing and they should listen to what I have to say.”

She added:

“A lot has happened since two years ago, the last time I was in court. I don’t think I was heard on any level when I came to court last time.

I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m okay and I’m happy. If I said that enough, maybe I’d become happy. … I’m in shock. I’m traumatized. … I’m so angry it’s insane.

I would honestly like to be able to sue my family. After I’ve told the whole world I’m okay, it’s a lie. I’m not happy, I can’t sleep, I’m depressed, I cry every day.”

She claimed she was forced into a 2018 concert pact, and forced to change her medication too.

Speaking on that, she said:

“Not only did my family not do a goddamn thing, my dad was all for it.”

Spears stressed that she said she didn’t even know she could petition to end the conservatorship. She claims that she was led to believe she would have to evaluated again for that.

When discussing the notion of seeing another psychiatric specialist, the songbird shared:

“I’m scared of people. I don’t trust people with what I’ve been through. It’s not okay to force me to do anything I want to do. … I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive. I don’t feel like I can live a full life.”

Conclusively, the performer told the presiding judge:

“I want my life back. I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive … I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated. I want to petition to end the conservatorship. This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life.”
