Jazmine Sullivan, Ciara Announce Respective Campaigns to Promote Equity in Black Women’s Health

Published: Tuesday 22nd Jun 2021 by Rashad

Though Jazmine Sullivan is busy enjoying the ongoing critical acclaim afforded to her latest body of work, ‘Heaux Tales,’ and Ciara is hard-at-work on her yet-titled 8th studio album, both R&B superstars are temporarily pressing pause on their musical endeavors for a good cause.

Get the details inside.

The ‘1,2 Step’ songstress stepped on the promo trail this week to support the “Cerving Confidence” initiative, in partnership with Project Health Equality and the Black Women’s Health Imperative.

Dropping by ABC News, CBS This Morning, and others, Cici discussed the impact cervical cancer continues to have on Black women each year – with studies indicating more than 40% die from the disease (making them twice as likely to die from cervical cancer as White women).

“I want to encourage women to understand the importance in this case how you can serve confidence and get ahead of everything. The cool thing is you can prevent cervical cancer. How amazing is that?” Ciara said Tuesday (June 22). “Go out there and make an appointment. Put yourself first, you have to. Putting yourself first is everything. Then you can take off and be your best self in every way possible.”

The ‘Body Party’ beauty isn’t the only R&B siren telling Black women to listen to their bodies.

Sullivan, still hot on the promo trail for her latest EP, took to ‘Good Morning America’ and ‘Ebony’ magazine recently to dish on her 6-year hiatus from the music scene as well as her mother’s breast cancer scare.

The latter acted as the catalyst for the development of the 12x GRAMMY nominee’s partnership with Novartis, an “international healthcare company based in Switzerland, by taking on the role of an advisor for the company’s More Than Just Words initiative.”

Designed to promote health equity in breast cancer care as well as creating solutions to improve breast cancer treatments and assistance for Black women (who are disproportionately impacted by the disease compared to their White counterparts), Jazmine is using her star power to shine a spotlight on this very important issue.
