RIAA: Bruno Mars’ ‘Just the Way You Are’ Now 13x Platinum, ‘Locked Out of Heaven’ at 9x Platinum

Standing in history books as the only artist to have five Diamond songs attached to his name, Bruno Mars – already one of the best-selling acts in digital music history – is set to extend that record with a sixth.

As recently revealed by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Mars (born Peter Hernandez) is the recipient of a slew of certification upgrades thanks to ongoing interest in his decade-wide catalog of hits.  Among those is his 2012 Hot 100 #1 smash, ‘Locked Out of Heaven,’ which is now just 1 million units away from unlocking Diamond status itself.

More inside:

Taking to press Tuesday (June 29), the RIAA announced five Mars songs – including his latest hit, ‘Leave the Door Open,’ with Silk Sonic brother Anderson .Paak – have seen their certification statuses updated.

At 13x Platinum, ‘Just the Way You Are’ is now in a three-way tie for second place among the most certified songs in music history.  Sharing the title with John Legend‘s ‘All of Me’ and Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber‘s colossal hit, ‘Despacito,’ the only song to have higher certification than ‘Just’ is the 14x Platinum Lil Nas X smash, ‘Old Town Road.’

With the refreshed certification tallies, Mars’ cumulative career total sale sit at 90.5 million – making him second only to Justin Bieber in digital music history among male vocalists.  Among all acts, only Drake, Rihanna, Eminem, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Bieber, and Post Malone have sold more.

Note:  “Platinum” signifies sale of 1 million units while “Diamond” is indicative of 10 million units sold.
