As the live sector revs up again after a year like no other, Coachella has uniquely announced Frank Ocean as one of the headliners for its 2023 installment. Yes, 2023.
Full story below…
Confirming the booking in an interview with the LA Times, Coachella co-founder Paul Tollett concurred that it wasn’t typical practice to announce performers so far ahead.
But he asserts that fans deserve reassurance after the chaos caused by the global health crisis.
“Right now, it’s the Wild West. I’m just trying to be as fair as I can to artists and to the fans to make sure that eventually they get to see everyone that we talked about.”
As reported, Ocean was originally scheduled to top-bill the 2020 festival alongside Travis Scott and Rage Against the Machine. However, the pandemic saw that iteration of the event ultimately rescheduled until April 2022. A frame that Ocean – who has endured personal tragedy – is unavailable for.
Still, fans will be able to see the reclusive star in action. They’ll just have to wait a while longer. Which is understandable given the circumstances.
Frank is undeniably talented but his music and performances lack energy and fail to connect. He’s a snooze and not headline material in my opinion!
Agreed.
IF HES THERE IM THERE. Hopefully we get a Jew album prior.
