Jesy Nelson is getting candid.
For, the former Little Mix star is opening up and responding to claims that she is Blackfishing.
More details below…
When speaking with Vulture about her look and style since leaving the girl group, she said:
“The whole time I was in Little Mix I never got any of that. And then I came out of [the band] and people all of a sudden were saying it. I wasn’t on social media around that time, so I let my team [deal with it], because that was when I’d just left.”
“But I mean, like, I love Black culture. I love Black music. That’s all I know; it’s what I grew up on.
“I’m very aware that I’m a white British woman; I’ve never said that I wasn’t.”
Recently, Nelson released her debut solo single, ‘Boyz,’ with Nicki Minaj and goes on to say that she is just resuming her style in the days before she was in the band. She said she wanted to be “authentic and true” to herself and added “don’t be a part of my journey” for those who do not like it.
As far as people calling her out on social media and getting blocked by her, she said that she did not know anything about that and suggested that her team could have been responsible.
