After days on life support, Ezra Blount – a 9-year-old who was injured at Travis Scott‘s Astroworld Festival – has died, according to his family.

As we reported here, Scott’s Astroworld Festival – hosted in Houston on November 5 – erupted into a chaotic stampede that caused multiple deaths.
Ezra’s father, Treston, said he had the young boy on his shoulders at the onset of the chaos but fell to the ground and lost consciousness. By the time he regained it, he couldn’t find his son – only to later discover the child had been transported to the hospital and put on life support due to major injuries sustained at the scene (i.e. swollen brain, organ damage, etc.).
According to Blount family, Ezra died Sunday (November 14). Ben Crump, the family attorney, released the following statement:
“The Blount family is grieving the incomprehensible loss of their precious young son. This should not have been the outcome of taking their son to a concert, what should have been a joyful celebration. Ezra’s death is absolutely heartbreaking. We are committed to seeking answers and justice for the Blount family. But we stand in solidarity with the family, in grief, and in prayer.”

The death toll is now 10. While eight of those victims were pronounced dead Friday night (November 5), the ninth – Bharti Shahani – died Wednesday (November 10).
