Ashanti has achieved many accolades over the course of her two decades in the spotlight.
And the latest comes courtesy of the Soul Train Awards, who have unveiled the singer as the latest recipient of the Lady of Soul honor.

Organizers for the November 28 ceremony – which takes place at New York’s Apollo Theater – trumpeted the news moments ago.
Speaking on the honor, Ashanti said:
“I’m honored to be recognized as this year’s ‘Lady of Soul’ honoree. This is a full circle moment for me because I received the ‘Aretha Franklin Entertainer of the Year’ Award at the Lady of Soul Awards in 2002. As we commemorate 50 years of Soul Train, I’m proud to be a part of this legacy and to return to the Apollo to celebrate.”
The news comes on the heels of the nomination reveal.
Hosted by Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell, this year’s Soul Train nominations sees H.E.R. lead with 8, Jazmine Sullivan and Chris Brown following with 6.
The show will simulcast on BET and BET Her at 8 PM ET.
