With a massive bow, Swift would score the second biggest debut of the year. She would only fall behind Drake, who opened with 613,000 units in September for his ‘Certified Lover Boy Album.’
Swift is on course for her tenth #1 on the Billboard 200 and would be her third chart-topper this year. She previously reached the summit with ‘Evermore’ and ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version).’
Earlier today, it was revealed that she broke the first day streaming record for a female album, surpassing her own ‘Folklore’ album (as we reported here).
The fact that she is doing these type numbers with remaking old music is so hilarious to me.

Black is beautiful
Literally has everything to do with her respect and loyalty to her fan base than the color of her skin. If black artists out here would put as much time and effort into their fanbase as she has, they’d have the same numbers. Stop making lazy and repetitive excuses. So damn dated and boring.
Child please if a black artist had Taylor weak vocal ability and made all those boring songs they’d never be heard from. Like Eminem said if he was black he would’ve sold half.
Taylor Swift started off singing country then went pop, while getting her songs immediately added to mainstream, pop, and r&b radio stations. Black r&b or hip-hop artist don’t get their songs added to mainstream and pop radio stations unless they become a huge hit.
You call them boring songs, but that’s just your opinion. Why not accept that she has a connection with a fan base that not many artists have. She is able to write amazing lyrics that have connected with so many people.
Not every singer has to have strong like diva vocals, there is Many types of singers.
Beyonce sells high pure sales too as a black artist however the difference is that Taylor swift CHEATS with 5 months prior pre orders, discounts, remixes, radio deals, paid ads views, bought and bundled streams, merch bundles, tour bundles, LOTA of vinyls etc. Taylor swift has created this illusion of being close with fans but I see through her fake innocence just like Selena gomez, she is a nepotism baby. Her fans are mostly white teenage girls with no taste and like simple bland music and tell their rich middle class parents to buy everything Taylor swift. Taylor swift is a scam artist, she is truly a flop and isn’t relevant since 2016 but you guys aren’t ready for that conversation.
Don’t get her music but respect.

I was expecting her to do at least 700k or more. The way her fans were hyped up and anticipating the re-release of this album. We’re going to have to deal with the next two re-releases.

I am not surprised that she is outselling everyone again with a re-release of RED. It was one of my very favorite albums when it first came out, and I believe she was cheated out of a Grammy that year, but I love it evem more now because her vocals are much more mature with greater control of her voice and emotional intensity. The original songs sound better now with her gorgeous voice taking center stage but thats not all. There are 14 brand new, never heard songs on this new RED version and it is mind boggling how great they are. Her fans are getting a double whammy, the better version of original RED plus a whole new musical experience from a beloved album. For anyone who is saying she does not deserve this kind of power or this kind of adulation, I say this. Get over it. Taylor Swift and her enormous talent comes around once in our lifetime and those who truly love heras an artist know this. She has nothing left to prove, yet is still delivering for her fans for I believe her storytelling and is cathtartic for her and her fans. Her ability to transform single thoughts and words, expanding them into a beautiful song is UNPARRALELED. She made a total fan out of me a long time ago and I am in my 60’s. I like music, but country and POP are what I listen to the most. Taylor’s music has gotten me through 2020, the darkest year of my life, loosing my husband of 48 years to cancer and my beloved dog Coco a month later. Her Folklore album was my salvation and a warm cup of tea at night, soothing and conforting. I absolutely adore her

The masses are brainwashed, well her t*** fan base is because, I know a lot of people that did not like this album. They’re more into her newer albums. Don’t get me wrong she’s talented and a great storyteller. She just doesn’t have the vocals to match. I just can’t get into her vocals. They’re a bit dry, as Aretha Franklin said beautiful gowns!! She’s no Adele, Mariah, Celine Dion, Whitney, Christina, Lara Fabian, P!NK, Carrie, Barbara Streisand, Ariana Grande, Lady GaGa, Beyoncé, Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson, Amy Winehouse or Leona Lewis. I’m happy this album did not WIN a Grammy because it did NOT deserve any. The greed to always win an award when there are countless of other Artists that are more deserving. This is my opinion and it will NOT change. To each their own!!

Sorry .. I don’t agree. I am mid 40s, and a musician (guitarist). I think Swift has an unbelievably brilliant sense of melody and a the ability to harmonize melody so well in perfectly crafted songs. She definitely deserves the awards she has won. The new Red TV album is 10 times better than the original because her voice is so much stronger and the production much improved. A song like Red is just a brilliant Country Rock classic
Agreed – and I’m a Swiftie in my 40’s and will stay one for life 😉 Her song writing talents are worthy of goosebumps, introspection, and provide the ability to transport you to another place/time/memory almost instantaneously. Find me a list the artists mentioned who can do that consistently? I LOVE Adele – but even her, I cannot love every song on her releases. Everything she writes hits in that heart pocket, or at least has this amazingly catchy beat that you can’t help but hum along to (or catch yourself humming days later) . She definitely deserves any awards she’s won and as a fan of Red, I would have liked to see her win Best Album/Album of the Year for this one.

Billy Joel compared her to the “Beatles” of her generation. As a major and PROUD ‘Swiftie’ from the Fearless era, I’ve watched this young woman grow into a power house, and cheered her on like watching a little sister accomplish great things. Every album release has matched the tempo and had intense emotional connectivity to my own life – And I’m betting the majority of Swifties feel the same way. She has beyond proven that she *deserves* these numbers. More importantly, she’s great about remembering how she got where she is, giving back to the fans in fun and creative ways, and not forgetting to take care of her community or causes important to her. She is one of the top charitable artists of her generation and of this time – she donates and doesn’t need to show every little thing she does off to the public. So please with the haters 🙄 Like her songs say
