Capital FM took to social media to announce the news, saying:
“Sadly we have to announce that Coldplay and Lil Nas X have had to pull out of performing at this weekend’s Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard. Both acts have had members of their teams test positive for Covid-19 and therefore are not able to perform.”
“We’d like to wish the very best and a speedy recovery to Coldplay, Lil Nas X and their teams. Of course, everyone at Capital is absolutely gutted, but the show must go on…”
Capital then went on to confirm that both Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran will play extended sets. Additionally, they added ArrDee and Tom Grennan to the lineup.
The 2021 Jingle Bell Ball took place on December 11 and December 12 at The O2 in London.
The announcement comes as Doja Cat tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to cancel her appearances on the Jingle Ball tour (as we reported here).
