After scoring a critical touch down for the culture with their epic Super Bowl Halftime Show alongside Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Kendrick Lamar last Sunday (February 13), Dr. Dre and Eminem have scored re-entries in the Billboard 200’s topmost tier.
The updated album chart reveals the people truly haven’t ‘forgot about Dre.’
As reported here, the Super Bowl showing led Dre and Em to domination on real-time streaming and sales charts in the week that followed – a feat that’s translated to a win on the Billboard 200 as Eminem’s former No. 1, ‘Curtain Call: The Hits,’ bows at #8 while 2001’s ‘Dr. Dre’ dashes to #9.
With upward movements attached to figures of 31,000 and 30,500 units shifted respectively, the sales represent increases of over 200% for both projects.
Billboard reports:
“Of Curtain Call’s 31,000 equivalent album units earned, SEA [streaming] units comprise 26,000, album sales comprise 1,500, and TEA [individual track] units comprise 3,500. As for Dr. Dre – 2001’s 30,500-unit total, SEA units comprise 21,500 (up 168%, equaling 30.56 million on-demand official streams of the album’s songs), album sales comprise 4,000 (up 323%) and TEA units comprise 5,000 (up 860%).”
That misogynistic man do not deserve it.
Congrats to Encanto, The Weeknd and Dr. Dre 🤳🏽 ☕️
