Over the last few years, headlines about Nick Cannon‘s career moves (see: movies, music, talk show, radio and podcasts, etc.) are rivaled only by news of his paternity.
Just last month the 41-year-old star confirmed he is expecting his eighth child, bringing his baby mama total to 5.
Despite mounting criticism for his fertility, Cannon doesn’t shy away from addressing the subject aboard his many platforms.
Look inside to see what he said this week got that lips moving.
During an appearance on ‘The Language of Love‘ podcast with Dr. Laura Berman this week, Nick delivered a number of quotable moments that sent Twitter into a frenzy – igniting a number of debates along the way.
The most noted quote came courtesy of his statement about monogamy.
“I don’t think monogamy is healthy,” Cannon said Wednesday (February 16) on the podcast, adding, “I feel like that gets into the space of selfishness and ownership.”
And while the statement suggested to many that Nick was one who avoids commitment and is irresponsible, he refuted the stance by reminding listeners his eight children ‘were all planned.’
“I’m going to take full responsibility. Any woman that I know that I have unprotected sex with, there’s the potential to have a child,” he said. “So I feel like if I have unprotected sex with anyone I know – because one, I value everything about me so much, if I’ve gotten to that point where I say, ‘I can take off this condom,’ I’m gonna say, ‘She could be the mother of my child.’”
‘The Masked Singer’ host said he had an open discussion with the mothers of his children before they were impregnated.
“Every woman that I have a child with, there is definitely a conversation about, ‘Wow, how amazing would this be?’ I feel like every woman I have a child with are amazing mothers, and there was a thought process going into like, ‘Man, she would be an amazing mother, she’s desired children, I can’t wait to see what type of mother she would be.’
Switching to the topic of safe sex, the rapper-turned-media personality made it clear he goes the extra mile to practice it.
“When it comes to hygiene and all, I’m the biggest germ freak in the world. I will put on two condoms,” he said before adding, “Like, if I don’t know you. And I feel like, okay, the end, really. Probably this is part of the problem because I’m such a germaphobe. And I’ll go to the extent of like, ‘yo, let’s go to the doctor together. I get my blood taken, you know, every three weeks, because of my condition. I want to know all the panels. I want to know what bacteria I need to know everything because that’s how much of a germ freak I am.”
The extra mile comes in handy for Cannon who, despite claiming he ‘planned’ the conception of his 8 children, doesn’t want any more young Cannons running around.
“I don’t have the bandwidth for it anymore,” he said in regards to his expanding family. “Because I feel like I do owe the women that are currently in my life, I owe them as much energy, time, and effort as I possibly [can] – especially my kids.”
