Appearing on The Breakfast Club, the performer/social media sensation revealed that he has signed to Sony Music’s RCA Records.
Chopping it up with hosts Chalamagne Tha God and Angela Yee, Santana shared:
“I’m officially signed to RCA. I feel like that was the only thing that was stopping. I didn’t have that complete backing from a major [label]. I put in a lot of work and I worked really hard being an independent artist. Now, with that major backing, I can clear certain samples, get this radio sh*t going, I can get these bigger artists. It’s up!”
Explaining that before he signed on the dotted line “everyone was calling,” Santana was quizzed about whether he had any apprehensions entering the major label game after being independent for so long. He replied:
“Everything that I have done, has been Santana. When it comes to TikTok dances, it’s me. When it comes to videos, I’m telling ’em how I want my videos. When it comes down to what songs are coming out, I was doing that. When it comes to writing my music, I was writing songs – top to bottom – all that. So, I had to let them know that I need somebody that understands Santana but wants to help elevate and push Santana to the forefront. You can’t change me because my fans already fell in love authentically with who I am. People love me for me. People love real relatable sh*t. All I needed was that machine and it’s up!”
