From critics, fans, and celebrities alike (i.e. Rick Ross, Chance the Rapper, Ledisi, Lil Wayne, and many more), Anita Baker‘s been getting nothing but sweet love from doting concertgoers during her sold-out limited engagement at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas.
The affair – which saw its tickets snapped up merely hours after going on sale (as we reported here) – kicked off May 20 and, ahead of its June 4 wrap-up, has only increased touring demands for the semi-retired diva.
Despite previously teasing intent to take the Vegas act on the road, the official answer to the request of diehard fans came early in the show’s run when Baker confirmed she’s set to bring her brigade of hits to arenas all across North America.
Details inside.
As captured by our friends at the Rapture Room (seen above), Anita – whose highly publicized battle over the rights to her musical catalog saw the Queen of Quiet Storm crowned the victor last fall – is ready to show off those hits again on stages across the continent.
Evidence came via the unexpected announcement she will be hitting the road this summer.
“We don’t know what to call the tour just yet,” she started at the clip’s 38 second mark. “We’re going to finish our lovely run here [in Vegas], and then we’re going to start with Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit, Michigan…17 cities across the country.”
With Toronto, Atlanta, and Chicago reportedly among the cities set to host the songstress on the forthcoming run, Anita took to Twitter this week to double down on the first of the pit stops being her hometown.
Tickets for the Detroit date go on sale Friday, June 3 at 9am EST. Click here for details.
