Lizzo has been lighting up the charts with her latest single ‘About Damn Time’ and now its housing album ‘Special’ is following in its footsteps.
Released on July 14, the set follows 2019’s breakthrough effort ‘Cuz I Love You’ – home to chart-topper ‘Truth Hurts’ and ‘Good As Hell.’
With ample buzz, a bonafide smash, and a like-titled tour mounted in support of the set, expectations have been high.

The latest iteration of the Billboard 200 has been unveiled.
On it, ‘Special’ opens at #2 with 69,000 equivalent units behind the seemingly unstoppable Bad Bunny (who notches his sixth week atop of that tally).
Of that total, traditional sales amount to 39,000; streaming-generated units stand at 28,000 (following 37.07 million on-demand official streams of the album’s tracks). Other formats make up the remaining 2,000.
The placement serves as a career-high for Lizzo, who had released a number of projects independently before rising to global prominence.
Today’s triumph comes as her new track ‘2 Be Loved’ has been lined up for a push on Pop radio.
