Labeling the accusations “untrue,” “disgusting,” and “awful,” Ricky Martin is wasting no time denying reports he was ever involved in a sexual and romantic relationship with his nephew.

As has been dominating headlines all week, Martin’s nephew alleges the two carried on a seven-month affair that also saw the young man suffer physical and psychological abuse at the hands of his GRAMMY-winning uncle.

Facing 50 years in prison if convicted of the reported crime, Ricky is fighting back to clear his good name.

With headlines heating up, the 50-year-old broke his silence via lawyer Marty Singer.

“Unfortunately the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges,” Singer said before adding, “Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.”

Although the claim of mental health challenges is one corroborated by the ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ hitmaker’s brother, Eric Martin, the statement above isn’t all Singer had to say.

“The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting,” the lawyer shared. “We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”

The commentary from Singer comes weeks after a judge in Puerto Rico hit Ricky with a restraining order following accusations of domestic violence.  At writing, it’s not been revealed who filed for the restraining order but his reps denied those allegations as well.

“The allegations against Ricky Martin that led to a protection order are completely false and fabricated,” representatives for Martin relayed. “We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”
