The tune would not only go on to top the Billboard Hot 100, but would also help its parent album – ‘Cuz I Love You’ – to top 5 status on the Billboard 200 and assist Liz with nabbing mltiple GRAMMYs and other industry honors.
Riding that wave until 2021, the Cardi B-assisted ‘Rumors’ and other early tastes of content from her second major label album – ‘Special’ – was greeted with mixed reviews and modest commercial performance. And while the lack of buzz signaled to many that the 34-year-old was cruising toward the dreaded sophomore slump, she redirected those murmurs thanks to the success of the set’s breakout hit ‘About Damn Time.’
