Taking to press, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced that their cover of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ has now been certified Platinum for the sales equivalent of 1,000,000 units in the United States.
The song served as a single from the remake of the classic Disney movie of the same name. Upon the song’s release, it was a moderate success on the chart, where it peaked at #87 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The cover follows the Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson version that was released in 1991 alongside the animated version of the movie. That version of the song went on to peak at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became Dion’s second top 10 hit there.
Needless to say, a huge congratulations is in order for Ariana and John.
