Published: Thursday 29th Sep 2022 by Rashad

Coolio’s fans, friends, and celebrity peers alike continue to take to social media to share condolences after reports the Rap veteran died Wednesday (September 28) at age 59.

Born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., the California native was best known for his hits ‘C U When U Get There,’ ‘1,2,3,4 (Sumpin’ New),’ ‘Fantastic Voyage,’ and his signature tune, ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ – which is listed by Billboard as one of the greatest songs of all time and also won him a GRAMMY for Best Rap Solo Performance in 1996.

As expected, fans of the Rap icon have turned to digital download and streaming platforms for consolation – a feat that’s pushed ‘Paradise’ to the top of real-time sales tallies on a global scale.

Besting the likes of Future, Harry Styles, Drake, Lizzo, Beyonce, and a host of other current hitmakers, look inside to see how Coolio is dominating digital charts.

On other digital platforms like Amazon Music and Apple Music, the tune is currently listed in the top 10 (#3 and #10 respectively).

Already one of the best-selling songs of the 90’s, ‘Paradise’ was a global hit at the height of its popularity – hitting #1 in several countries including USA, Norway, Zimbabwe, Switzerland, France, Canada, Belgium, Australia, Italy, and more.

If continued, the renewed attention could see it re-enter the Billboard Hot 100 next week once radio airplay and streaming figures are tabulated.
