Singer Jesse Powell, famed for his hit ‘You,’ has sadly died.

The star’s sister Tamara Powell issued a statement on behalf of their family announcing the news moments ago. It read:
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, and uncle Jesse Powell.
He passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home. The family asks for privacy at this time as we mourn this tremendous loss and celebrate his everlasting legacy.
Jesse loved music and he especially loved his fans who supported him.

Powell, who was a GRAMMY nominee, was just 51.
As of writing a cause of death has yet to be announced.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones. Rest in peace.

That’s so crazy bc last night I was on a 90s music video binge and one of the videos I watched was “Get Your Groove On” by the now defunct 90s girl group, Gyrl and Jesse Powell made a brief cameo in that video..it’s shocking to wake up hours later to see that he has died..that is soooo sad..RIP Jesse Powell!
Wow, I can’t belive it !! Lord be with his family in there greatest time of need. Nothing can ever prepare you for the loss of a loved one. Thank you Jesse for you contribution to music and the song that made everyone fall Iin ove, everytime your song “YOU” was played.

I met him many years ago at what must have been one of his last concerts, because I never found any more shows after that. I remember he was really cool with all the fans who stayed after. His voice was in excellent shape.
