After becoming the longest-running top 5, top 10, top 20, and top 40 hit in the 64-year history of the Hot 100, ‘Blinding Lights’ – the blockbuster single found aboard The Weeknd‘s 2020 album ‘After Hours’ – clocked 90 weeks on the tally in late 2021, making it the chart’s longest-running song ever.
Its unprecedented staying power may have once seemed insurmountable, but this week English Rock band Glass Animals shattered the record with their scorching hit, ‘Heat Waves.’
Details inside.
The updated Hot 100 reveals ‘Heat Waves’ is found at #21 in its 91st week of being listed on the tally.
Nudging ‘Blinding Lights’ out of the top spot of “longest-running Hot 100 hits ever,’ ‘Heat’ was previously printed in history books for the steadiest climb to No. 1 when it reached the chart’s summit in its 59th week (back in March).
