Sam Smith and Kim Petras have powered to pole position on the Billboard Hot 100 with their global smash ‘Unholy.’

The eclectic pair ascended one spot to the #1 spot with the hypnotic jam on this week’s iteration of the coveted count. It replaces last week’s chart-topper Steve Lacy’s ‘Bad Habit’ – which drops to #2.
‘Unholy,’ which is lifted from Smith’s forthcoming fourth studio album ‘Gloria’ (due January 27, 2023) premiered at #3 and sat at #2 for the two weeks that followed.
Now, it’s snatched the top position fuelled by the following US numbers this tracking week:
- 25.3 million streams
- 21.5 million radio airplay audience
- 19,000 digital downloads
It’s worth noting that the uptick in digital downloads was assisted by a $0.69-cent price cut, along with the release of live and instrumental versions of the track as well as remixes courtesy of Disclosure and Acraze. Whatever it takes, ay?
‘Unholy,’ which also topped the UK chart, serves as the first #1s on the Hot 100 for both Smith and Petras.
Smith previously came close in 2014 after ‘Stay With Me’ peaked at #2. As of writing, the performer has nabbed seven top 10 hits on the Hot 100.
For Petras, ‘Unholy’ serves as her first entry on the Hot 100. A #1 at that.
