As Ari Lennox fans continue to get acquainted with her sophomore album, the September 9-released ‘Age/Sex/Location,‘ the set’s predecessor – 2019’s ‘Shea Butter Baby’ – has found itself a new location on the roster of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Taking to press Tuesday (October 4), the RIAA revealed Lennox’s critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Shea,’ had been certified GOLD for reported sales of 500,000 units in the United States.
While its title track sits as the singer’s first and only Platinum single (to date) for sales of 1 million units in the same territory, the LP also houses two other GOLD-certified hits: ‘BMO‘ and ‘Whipped Cream.’
Produced by J. Cole, Elite, Omen, Ron Gilmore, and Christo, the ‘Shea’ album peaked at #7 on R&B charts at the height of its popularity and was named one of the top 35 albums of 2019 by Associated Press, PEOPLE, NPR, VIBE, and Billboard.
