Christina Aguilera‘s modern Pop classic, 2002’s ‘Stripped,’ is still getting its flowers – even two decades after its debut.
Ahead of the release of the critically acclaimed set’s 20th anniversary edition, Xtina and team have received news its ranking at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has been renewed!
Details inside.
Taking to press Friday (October 14), the RIAA revealed ‘Stripped’ had crossed its threshold for 5x Platinum – meaning it’s sold the equivalence of 5 million copies in the United States alone. Reports have it the LP’s global sales total hovers over 12 million, making it one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century.
Among all Aguilera’s traditional studio albums, only her 2000 self-titled debut – currently sitting at 8x Platinum in the United States (reportedly over 14 million worldwide) – has sold more.
If that’s not enough to celebrate, three of the singles from ‘Stripped’ also had their certification statuses updated. At writing, ‘Fighter’ and ‘Beautiful’ are now 2x Platinum while the controversial ‘Dirrty’ is 1x Platinum.
The news comes as the second round of certification upgrades Christina has gotten from the RIAA in just the last month. As we previously reported, work found aboard her sophomore Spanish-language album, ‘Aguilera,’ also earned some shiny plaques from the organization.

Honestly I’m happy for her. I remember they said this album was gonna ruin her career cus Dirrty was “controversial”. That song was a hit everywhere except the united States which says alot of the mindset of america. & the deep cuts on this album alone make this album iconic. I remember the era fondly

Her self titles came out on 1999 not 2000.
Well deserved.
This album changed my life.
