Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion gallop to collect yet another shiny new plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) thanks to their March-released duet, ‘Sweetest Pie.’
A slice of good news for the hitmakers awaits inside.
Wednesday (September 28) the RIAA took to press to announce ‘Sweetest Pie’ – the lead single from Stallion’s sophomore studio album ‘Traumazine’ – had crossed its threshold for GOLD status, meaning it’s sold the equivalent of 500,000 copies in the United States alone.
Released March 22, the OG Parker-produced bop marked a milestone for Lipa when it premiered and peaked at #15 on the Hot 100 (marking her highest opening on the tally to date). Her sixth top 20 hit on the hit list, ‘Pie’ comes as Stallion’s eighth.
At the RIAA, ‘Sweetest’ comes as the latest taste of song certification for both divas – two of the highest-certified female acts of the decade. For Stallion, it marks the 15th tune of her career to be certified Gold or higher. Lipa, on the other hand, counts ‘Sweetest’ as her 14th to meet the same criteria.
