Despite their grievances with the Recording Academy over the years (i.e. JAY-Z‘s unceremonious 0-8 shut out and Beyoncé being snubbed for Album of the Year honors thrice), the Carters’ relationship with the GRAMMYs is nothing short of historic.
While Bey sits as the most-awarded singer (28) in the ceremony’s 64-year history, JAY shines alongside Kanye West as the most-awarded rapper (24 each).
Co-incidentally, the Carters are also the show’s most-nominated.
Before the 2023 GRAMMY nods were announced Tuesday (November 15), Bey reigned as Queen of GRAMMY nominations with a whopping 79 nods while her history-making husband – then the most-nominated act overall – had an astounding 83 nominations.
Thanks to her chart-topping 2022 album ‘Renaissance,’ the diva is mentioned in 9 categories aboard the 2023 class of competitors, bringing her career-long nomination total to 88. With JAY’s additional 5 nods, she now ties him to become the most-nominated act of all time.
Tune into the GRAMMYs when they air live on CBS on February 5, 2023 to see how many of the coveted trophies she collects.
