Female Hip-Hop pioneers Salt-N-Pepa are no strangers to making history over their illustrious careers, and Friday (November 4) – nearly 36 years after the arrival of their debut album ‘Hot, Cool & Vicious’ – they continued to do so thanks to becoming the first female Rap group to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Despite their documented differences, the legendary duo reunited with on-and-off-again third member DJ Spinderella for the special occasion.
Cheered on by fellow groundbreaking femcees MC Lyte and Yo-Yo, Salt-N-Pepa – most famous for their hits ‘Push It,’ ‘Shoop,’ and ‘Whatta Man’ – gave impassioned acceptance speeches of the honor (as seen in the video above).
When not gleaming over the star (which is located near fellow Rap icon Missy Elliott‘s), Spin called for a long-awaited reunion with her former group members after their official split in 2019.
“I have to thank you for those lessons because it wasn’t just the music, it was our relationship, and that means everything to me, so whatever we got to do to fix that, let’s get some unity back in this,” she said during her speech. “Let’s figure it out and be iconic and be what the fans want.”
