While one reigns as the Queen of Country Pop, the other is currently reigning over box offices with her hotly-selling ‘Special World Tour.’ Both will be honorees at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards.

Just a month after going to press with their highly competitive list of nominees (which includes multiple mentions of Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Harry Styles, Nicki Minaj, and others), the People’s Choice Awards (PCAs) has announced Shania Twain – a previous 2-time PCA winner – as the year’s Music Icon Award recipient.
What’s more, the ‘You’re Still the One’ songstress is said to be performing a medley of her greatest hits as well as tunes from her forthcoming album, ‘Queen of Me’ (due on digital shelves February 3, 2023).
“I’m so incredibly honored to be named Music Icon,” Twain said in a statement. “I have some of the greatest fans in the world. They have supported me since the early days, and it’s their love and passion that keeps me going. I’m thrilled to go back on tour and bring my new music and fan favorites to them, and what better way to start than at the People’s Choice Awards!”
Elsewhere on the program is Lizzo who will be receiving the 2022 People’s Champion Award for her “contributions to music and television while also advocating for diversity and inclusion for people of all genders, sexualities, and sizes.”
Accepting the Champion Award may not be the only time the songstress steps on the PCA stage, however, as she’s nominated for five other awards that night including Female Musical Artist of 2022, Song of 2022 (‘About Damn Time‘), and Album of 2022 (‘Special‘).
