Federal agents have joined the investigation of a shooting that injured nearly a dozen people Thursday (January 5) at a Miami Gardens restaurant where the filming of a music video with rapper French Montana was happening.
Look inside to see what the rapper had to say about the tragedy.
At least 10 people were injured in the shooting outside The Licking, a popular Miami Gardens soul food restaurant, while French was on site filming a music video. According to local police authorities, the altercation started in a different location and then moved to The Licking where gunfire erupted.
On Friday (January 6), Montana took to Twitter to address the incident (as seen in the tweet above).
“We, unfortunately, were at the wrong place, at the wrong time,” Montana tweeted in a statement before later saying, “Our thoughts & prayers are with the victims and families at this time.”
The Licking, a restaurant group owned by DJ Khaled with multiple locations in Florida and Chicago, also issued a statement about the matter.
“Our hearts are heavy and go out to the victims of this senseless act,” the statement read before continuing, “We were not aware of a video being filmed and found out last min[ute] French Montana was shooting a scene in the back parking lot. We have no idea what actually took place. The Licking restaurant has nothing to do with the incident and has given police the necessary footage requested.”
Miami Gardens Chief D. Noel-Pratt reported late Friday night that organizers of the music video did not obtain city permits, so there wasn’t an “appropriate law enforcement detail.”
As of time reported, four of the 10 injured remain in critical condition.
